Wind River Gun Dogs is now offering professional training services for outside dogs!
After much deliberation and consideration, and lots of persuading from several former clients, I am once again training professionally.
One of the things that sets me apart from some of the other professional dog trainers is, at this time, I am limiting the number of client dogs that I am taking in. Currently, I am only going to take in 8 client dogs. Unlike many other trainers that take in 16+ dogs, I can dedicate extra time to your dog. I can also customize my training to your personal needs and your dog's individual traits. With fewer dogs, I am also able to travel to different training areas to expose your dog to as many varied terrain and water scenarios as possible. Most dogs will be worked 2x/day, six days a week. I will be training for hunting, Hunt Tests and competition dogs.
I personally have participated and been sucessful in: Competitive Obedience, Field Trials (2 QAA dogs) and Hunt Tests (numerous Master Hunters, Senior Hunters and Junior Hunters) and Judging Hunt Tests.
My rates are as follows: $400 per month for all breed obedience, $550 per month for Retriever/Pointer Training for Gundogs or Hunt Test competitors, $550 per month for Field Trial Basics. I also offer all breed boarding at $15 per day. Gundog "Train the Trainer" sessions by hour or day (done by appt only, call and we'll discuss rates). A signed contract is required for any dog coming in for field work. There is a 3 month minimum unless prior arrangements are made.
Bird charges, veterinarian appts, medications, wormers and flea/tick preventatives are extra. I try to keep these costs to a minimum.
For those individuals interested in Retriever Field Trial Training, I would be happy to start your young dog and put them through the basics. Then I can provide you with recommendations for FT only retriever professionals to place your dog with. In my opinion, to be truly successful in Retriver FTs, you need a professional dedicated to that aspect of field work only. Very few professional retriever trainers can be actively successful in the both HT and FT arenas at the same time.
I am currently accepting deposits for openings beginning March 1, 2008. Deposits are $250 and are not refundable. Once a deposit is received, I reserve a spot for your dog and it is likely that I have had to turn away other clients. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Here's to a GREAT TRAINING YEAR!
